Deep Restorative Body Work

Also known as Deep Restorative Bodywork, Deep Qi Bodywork or DQBW is a style of very gentle body work used in the Yin Style Bagua system of Chinese Medicine. You could think of it as the Chinese Medicine equivalent to Cranial Sacral Therapy or Yin Shiatsu.

What does Deep Restorative Bodywork involve?

Treatment is non-invasive and carried out through clothing. It involves gentle, rhythmic rocking, shaking and holding of the body to realign and reintegrate the skeletal system so Qi can flow freely within the system.

What does Deep Restorative Bodywork feel like?

It is common to experience tangible sensations of Qi flowing within the body - these can manifest as pulsing, waves, shaking, vibrating or radiating heat. Over the course of the treatment these sensations tend to subside and are replaced by a sense of profound stillness. If you have ever practiced Yoga and have reached a deep state of meditation through Yoga Nidra practice it is very similar to this - one yoga teacher called it a 'super-charged Savasana'.

Who is Deep Restorative Bodywork suitable for?

The treatment is a stand-alone treatment i.e. it can be booked as a single, one-off treatment or as part of a course of treatment. It is suitable for everyone but it is most beneficial if you have:

  • Chronic fatigue, high levels of stress or adrenal burnout
  • Chronic auto immune disease
  • Insomnia or hyperactivity
  • High level of anxiety, fear or hyper vigilance

Appointments are available with James Thirlwall (Clinic Director) at the clinic in Iffley Village on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. Treatment costs £60 for a one hour session.
